NOTE: We are currently operating with reduced staff numbers in accordance to the social distancing requirements currently in place. As such it may take 1-2 business days for your order to be dispatched when ordering. Thank you for your understanding during this time, stay safe.

Golden Wax 464 is a natural soy wax containing a soy based additive to reduce frosting and increase fragrance load. The wax is Natural and Kosher. The lower melt point of this wax enables it to have improved jar adhesion and helps prevent wet spots making it a good replacement for CB-Advanced.

Our testing has found this wax works well when heated to around 85°C with fragrance added at 70°C before being poured slowly into warmed glassware immediately after stirring. For us this has resulted in smooth tops and perfect adhesion in clear / transparent glassware. Please note however the ideal pouring temperature may vary depending on container size and room temperature therefore proper testing in small batches is always recommended and our testing cannot take the place of your own testing.

This wax benefits from a slow cool to help reduce the likelihood of polymorphism/frosting, ideally candles should be placed on a wire rack for cooling and rapid changes in temperature should be avoided during this cooling process. This wax is prone to circular surface cracking, but this can usually be reduced/eliminated by good temperature control.

We would suggest a cure time of 10-14 days before burning.

Melt Point: 45 - 48°C
Pour Temperature: 60 - 80°C depending on container size and room temperature.
Max Fragrance: 10% although 7-8% is usually plenty in this wax.

Please note: We do not recommend using essential oils in candles, even though some may perform reasonably well. The flashpoint, especially in citrus-type essential oils, is quite low and the direct flame of the wick in contact with the wax, a candle can easily catch fire. Essential oils do tend to work quite well in 'melts' as the heat source is not in direct contact with the wax. For candle making we recommend the use fragrance oils which have been specially designed for use in candles as their safety has been tested for the intended use. All essential oils due to their raw nature may discolour the wax. If essential oils are to be used in a candle application, please test in small quantities first and increase the ratio gradually to no more than 6%, being mindful of the high flammability of the raw material. As advised before, we do not recommend the use of essential oils in candles.
